Sinopse:
If you want a mathematically playful tour that still moves methodically from Arithmetic and Algebra through Geometry, Trigonometry, Analytic Geometry, Calculus, and then into Astronomy and the Calendar, this collection is built for that exact mood. The table of contents shows a deliberate climb from elementary operations to richer subjects, with Mechanics and Physics closing the sequence and an Appendix rounding things out. H. E. Licks frames the book as a collection of recreations rather than a formal textbook, and the preface makes that tone clear: the pieces are mixed in length, seriousness, and style, gathered from many sources for readers who enjoy mathematical curiosities. The structure is chapter-based, but the contents are intentionally varied, so the reader can expect puzzles, oddities, and essays that orbit around core mathematical topics without following a rigid classroom path. The result is a book that invites curiosity more than drill. It is especially appealing to students and enthusiasts who want mathematics presented as a lively cabinet of ideas, with enough breadth to cross from pure topics into applied ones and enough variety to keep the experience surprising.
